the Badasht project

The Badasht Project seeks to explore how the use of beauty, music and the arts can serve as a catalyst for change, consciousness, revolution, and insight.

Creating and utilizing cultural vehicles characterized by unity in diversity and the deep appreciation of the oneness of humanity, we hope to empower patterns of community life that will generate positive change in the world.

the artists

Converging on Canada’s Vancouver Island, songwriter/recording artists Eric Dozier (Harlem Gospel Choir, One Human Family) and JB Eckl (Santana, WAR, Ozomatli) set out to bring their diverse musical backgrounds together for a music-infused devotional experience. Drawing on the Baha’i sacred Writings for lyrics and inspiration, and incorporating elements of soul, rock, Gospel, folk and world music, this first collaboration weaves a rich tapestry of sound at once expansive and intimate, introspective and jubilant.

the community

The Badasht Community is and evolving collective of artists, scholars and community members who are striving-in close collaboration with the Institutions of the Bahá'í Faith-to serve as a catalyst for the meaningful advancement of a unified world, particularly as it pertains to the essential role of beauty and the arts.

From poweful songs that anyone can sing, to selections of writings, stories and poetry, to simple and beautiful visual materials, the community page is a utility belt of resources designed to assist individuals and communities integrate the arts into all their activities.

'Do not call it a meeting. Call it a confluence of holy souls; a convocation of those who love the Lord; a retreat for the people of the All-Merciful; a palace-hall for all who sing His praise.'
