An Immersive Workshop Experience

Equal parts live concert, lecture and multimedia presentation, What’s Goin’ On: A Musical History Of American Race Relations is a unique way of experiencing the impact of music on American culture, identity and social progress.

Through their wealth of experience working with groups of all ages and their electric performing style as roots/Americana duo Moanin’ Sons, Eric Dozier & JB Eckl communicate important concepts in a way that would be impossible through mere intellectual exercise.

Music served as a barometer for the mood of the times and as a crucial ingredient in movements which united people in their struggle for progress and betterment. Eric and JB examine these intersections between music and history by performing songs and discussing key musical figures from the Civil Rights, labor & anti-war movements, as well as other voices of change both within the US and internationally. And perhaps most important, they make sure everyone experiences viscerally the unifying force of group songs, not just by hearing them, but by singing them together!
